Omloop Van Borselle 122k

I met up with Team "GB" on Saturday for the start of the Omloop Van Borselle.   The team  included me, Alex Greenfield, Katie Colclough, Jessica Allen and Lucy Martin.   We had a team talk with Simon and headed off to get on the start line as early as possible as the course was windy and tight so it was important to get up front asap.   Cervelo drove the race from the beginning which split the race on the first lap as we headed down the back of the course with a strong head wind that did the damage.   There were a few attempts to get away but nothing was leaving without Cervelo.  There were about 50 riders in the main bunch left  by lap 4 but that all changed on the last lap after a  constant surge of attacks from DSB and Cervelo  soon paid off as a group of 16 riders broke free including Alex  who had a fantastic race today with 3rd place! A brilliant result just being clipped by Marianne Vos into second and Kirsten Wild of Cervelo 1st.

I  clipped off the front of my group to finish 19th place with Lucy, Jess and Katie finishing in the same group.  A great result for the team today!

Prijs Stad  Roeselare 130k

After a blissful nights sleep we headed to Roeslere for this afternoons race.  It had been raining in the morning but it stayed dry for our race thankfully.   Today's course profile had 4 climbs in it the main one being the Kemmelberg cobbled climb at about 54k.     Cervelo  pretty much strung the field out from the gun keeping the pace high on the small narrow roads.    The field split on the first climb after an attack from Cervelo then it split again on the Kemmelberg cobbled climb. My positioning was not great  coming into the kemmelberg which meant I had to chase with a group to get back into the first group which we did thankfully.  Lots of attacks went in the last 30k which me and Jess covered and Lucy held tight for the sprint.   Nothing got clear so Cervelo drove the pace for the last 8k finishing lap- We got  Lucy into  position (as close to Kirsten Wilds wheel as possible!) then it was a matter of holding it as  Cervelo really put the hammer down which paid of as Kirsten Wild took her second win of the weekend with Rochelle Gilmore 2nd and Lucy Martin 11th, me 20th, Jess 32nd and Katie 37th  another great result for the team against a quality field.

Now I head off to France to meet my French team for the first time this season for the Elsy Jacobs race and Coupe De France.
