Plouay World Cup - 18th-37th-40HD
24th August
We rode around the course very slowly yesterday
and my legs were really not feeling so great after yesterday.
Thankfully Christine and Beatrice were feeling on top the World
which made me feel a lot happier.
I felt a bit under the weather the
morning and hoped I had not caught the cold that had been
lurking around out team starting out with Beatrice then Jez
then?? yes you guessed it I got it just as I finished Plouay !
The field for Plouay was around 100 or so with
Luperini, Arndt and Cantelle looking to Win on this Champions
course. The first two laps nothing much
happened, the 3rd lap Kimberley Anderson from Columbia attacked
and the bunch then started to get hot with the speed increasing
and the bunch getting smaller with each lap and on each climb.
I stayed with the bunch for 3.5 laps but got dropped on the last
climb along with quite a few other. We did try to chase
back to the bunch but they were having way to much fun so we
settled back and rode the finishing laps to finish.
Beatrice and Christine were up in the bunch and I
could here on the race speakers that Beatrice was having a super
day as she was trying to bridge across to Luperini and Keller
who had a 30 second gap on the bunch. Unfortunately she
was caught but at least she had a go. Christine had
a bad final lap and lost contact with the bunch. Luperini
won the sprint ahead of Luise Keller (Columbia) and Suzanne De
Goede took the 3rd place spot. Beatrice finished in 18th
place and Christine 37th place. I finish the race
with about 4 other girls but finished about 20 minutes down in
40th place.
Time for some Rest and Recovery for me as I am
feeling a bit below par today and want my bed and my house for a
week or so before heading back out to France for the Tour of
Ardeche 5 day stage race.
