Training camp in Majorca
I have just come back from a training
camp in Majorca. It was my first time in Majorca and I was
keen to find out more about this cycling mad Island!
I went with Nina a cycling friend from Holland.
As soon as we arrived on the Island we
built our bikes up and headed out for a spin. We were
staying in Palma Nova area right on the coast. I could not
believe the amount of cyclist on the Island, it was like
Piccadilly circus! I decided to hook up with a fast
group the next day and boy was it fast! I then realised
why as Eric Zabel was in our group and all the boys were going
flat out up front! I took the opportunity to sit on Zabels
wheel and admire his fine physic! lovely it was too!
After 5 hours I was starting to feel
tired to say the least and I was glad to get back to the hotel
and eat! The only bad thing about the hotel was the
rock solid bed! After 3 nights of really bad sleep I woke
up with a stye on my eye and a nice fat cold sore and I was
walking like Quasimodo! But my legs felt good thankfully!
Over the next few day I went into the
mountains and did some hill work which was hard going but nice
to get some long climbs in! A few guys crashed on the
descent as it was a little oily in parts but I was taking no
risks and thankfully stayed upright.
I managed to get a 30 hour training week in
with all the sessions I wanted to do although the rain did fall
on a few of the days!
I was looking forward to getting back home
for a well deserved rest and to find out what was happening with
my team situation, which had been playing on my mind!
