First race of the season at Hillingdon Circuit
Thankfully is was not raining too hard for my training race
today. But the wind made up for the lack of rain!!
I was looking forward to my first race of the season at the
familiar grounds of the Hillingdon Circuit which has been
recently re-vamped! My aim today
was to enjoy myself and throw some jumps in. I was
feeling quite good and up for racing so after about 10 laps or
so I decided to chase down a few guys who had tapped of the
front. I chased hard up the finish straight and
thankfully a handful of guys kept the effort going and we
managed to get about 12 of us away to chase down the 4 guys up
front. Try as we did we
could not catch the guys up front but it was hardly surprising
with Lewis Atkins up front!
We had gained enough ground to keep away from the bunch but we
could not make up enough ground to catch the 4 guys up front so
we waited for the sprint lap to battle out the last few laps.
I was hot on the wheels of Bill Butterworth to finish 14th place
overall. A good ride today, I really enjoyed myself
and I was encouraged about how good I felt.
Sunday the 17th January - Team Quest ride
Today was
an early reliability ride arranged by Paul from Team Quest.
We all hooked up at 9.30am in Ickenham to ride a 100k bike route
taking you around Amersham and some of the Archer road race
course. Including Gore hill! A
real nice ride today and I was feeling good which is always a
nice feeling. we finished around the 3 hour
mark without being too competitive, so we added on an extra hour
to spin back home and chill ready for my well deserved rest day
tomorrow! Yippee..........
