Team Rapha/Immune System Bank?
Well what a few weeks it has been! I
signed for Women's UCI Team Rapha/Immune System Bank about 6
weeks ago. I started to smell a dirty Rat when the
Manager Rene Groot didn't send me back a copy of the UCI
contract after weeks of asking for a signed copy. This made
me very suspicious! Amongst other things, like ignoring
email for example. So after a lot of digging and
investigation work we have found out that our "apparent" UCI
team had not even been registered with the UCI or the BCF!
as he could not be bothered to do it.
Now unfortunately after so many promises by Rene he has
decided not to run the team after all as, as I quote "My
heart isn't in it any more" !! INCREDIBLE!
I only wished he realised this before signing up a whole
team of girls!
So, myself and many other talented
athletes including Leonie Burford from Australia and Monique Van De
Ree from Holland are left without any team, bikes or UCI
races for the season. Thank you Rene for letting us
down with only 3 weeks to the start of our season! Thank
fully we have Andy Verall and certain Jez Cox working around
the clock to salvage what little we have left of a team to
try and at least get something sorted for the season!
Thank fully I have a fighting spirit and situations like
this just make me more determined! So hopefully I will be
able to report back very soon with some more positive Team
news for 2008! I am off to Majorca on Wednesday with some
friends from Holland for a training camp which I am really
looking forward to especially after resent events. My
training is going very well although I did have a minor set
back last week as I caught a stomach bug from Jez (thank
you!) so I was out of action for a few days and still have
not got my appetite back completely yet which is weird! Mind
you I was looking forward to some rhubarb crumble and
custard after a hard 5 hour ride yesterday!
Despite all the "Team" problems my first race is
scheduled for the 1st weekend in March so I am hoping to
have a race bike sorted for then. Looking forward to
Majorca!
