Since my last diary update I have been
making the most of the dry sunny days we have been having here
in the UK.
I had a solid training race at the Eddie
Soens last week although the wind was bad which saw allot of
people caught out including me on the last lap! The
race started out with a few lads attacking and team Halfords
tried to bridge them back but it all soon came together when the
Elite 2nd and 3rd cat's came from behind.
Their was a block head wind on the back
straight so positioning into the 3rd from last corner was key
other wise you had to play catch up for the next few laps!
I raced on this circuit about 6 years ago and remember it being
hard but nothing like it was today!
I Rapha boys were attacking allot up front
with PCA covering every move successfully. The PCA boys
were out in force today all there hard work paid off as Tony
Gibb crossed the line 1st.. This is his 4th win in
the Eddies Soens race.
My legs found the pace a bit shocking at
times and I wished I had an 11 on as my legs had the strength
but not necessarily the speed! I think I was making
some Derny faces!
I was positioned pretty badly in the last 5
laps which is rare for me as I like up front more but didn't
want to be near the front when we hit the wind today! The boy's
did a perfect job of that! With 2 laps to go the
pace went even higher, I missed a wheel into the back straight
and was too far back to work through to the bunch so I had to
work the next lap with a few Rapha boys who also got caught out!
I was happy with my ride and my form but
not happy with my positioning today but at least it was a
reminder that I no doubt will need when my season starts for
real in a few weeks.
I will be doing a few more UK races before
I head out to Boulder on the 17th March where I will be joining
my new team.
