Team Adventure weekend in Chambery - 21-23 December
I flew into Paris on Friday afternoon to meet the
rest of the Team (apart from Audrey and Joelle who had
University commitments) on the train down to Chambery in the
South of France. Sophie Creux who is also one of the
riders in our team organized and eventful weekend for us girls!
Saturday morning we headed out up the Mountain to the top of the
Ski slopes. I could not believe the snow haven we were
about to embark on especially coming from ground level where
there was no snow in sight.

the Ski slopes

Most of the girls have Skied before apart from
Beatrice, Melodie and me so we had to spend some time getting
used to the two large objects attached to our feet that are very
different from cycling shoes! We had a good 10
minutes! practice before we hit the snow trails. I
think I must of fallen over a good 8 times and so did most of
the other girls apart from Christine and Sophie who are pretty
good at Skiing. Everyone enjoyed Skiing, it was great fun
especially skiing down the hills trying to stay upright but the
hardest thing was the technique.
After some lunch we headed back to the Ski
centre but this time to get our snow walking boots on as we were
about to embark on a Ski trek across the mountain tops.

Jacques the Team Manager was encountering some teething problems
with his snow boots so out came the Blister emergency pack which
did not last long as most of the girls reached for some
emergency aid! Luckily I did not get any blisters and judging by
the looks of their blisters I was very happy about that.
The trek across the mountains was really stunning. Of course the
Trek would not of been complete without the obligatory roll in
the snow and snow fight!
After all our hard Ski efforts of the day we were treated to a
tradition French dinner that was like a potato Gratin coated
with a Special Chambery cheese, it was really yummy!
Sunday Morning we were treated to a morning hike up the mountain
but this time with normal walking boots. We reached
the top of the mountain after an hour or so of walking up hill
through mud and snow. The views from the top of the mountain
were stunning as you can see below.

At
the top of the Mountain above the clouds! It was a beautiful
view.

Sunday afternoon we headed back to our hotel to get ready for
the evening adventures. First up we had a go at
indoor Rock climbing which was a lot harder than it looked! I
think we were all tired from the mornings trekking!
After Rock climbing we headed into Chambery for some fun packed
laser shooting games! This was one of my favourites
activities alongside the Nordic Skiing. We were in team of
two, red against blue inside a maze like dark room with music
blaring to get the fighting spirit going! We had to
kill the other team with these special laser guns, it was a mad
evening killing each other! After that
we headed to a local restaurant for some much needed food and
then hit the sack.

Monday morning we headed to the Ski slopes for some Nordic
Skiing which we really enjoyed. The slopes were really
hard and Icy this morning which played havoc with us Novice
Skiers but again crashing was worth it for the feelings of
exhilaration you get from skiing!
I
am sure we are all aching from head to toe but what a Fantastic
adventure weekend we all had. A big Thank you to Sophie
for organising all the activities! and to Jacques for making it
all possible.
